Ingredients
- 1 tsp. baking soda
- 1 liter of water
- 2 tbsp. black soap (optional)
Black soap is used here as a wetting agent, i.e. it does not have a direct antifungal action, but helps the solution to adhere to the aerial parts. It thus contributes to the effectiveness and durability of foliar spraying.
Preparation
- Mix the ingredients and pour into a spray bottle.
- Spray all aerial parts (don’t forget under leaves) until saturated.
Frequency of application of sodium bicarbonate solution
Spray once a week (but repeat after rain).
Spray in the evening and avoid direct sunlight.
Storage of sodium bicarbonate solution
Baking soda solutions will keep for 1 year, provided they are kept cool and protected from light. Discard the solution if it changes color or odor.

Take care of yourself and your environment…
- Too high a concentration of bicarbonate can burn the leaves. Do not exceed the suggested concentration. Stir well before spraying.
- You can’t replace black soap with just any dishwashing soap without harming our plants. Dishwashing soaps may contain ingredients (such as perfumes) that are harmful to plants and the environment.
