Adventitious plants
A plant that grows spontaneously in a crop and whose presence is more or less harmful to the crop.
Alterative
Alterative, a little-known medicinal plant property, yet extremely useful when dealing with acne, eczema, arthritis, osteoarthritis and other arthritic diseases.
Amphocholeretic
The amphocholeretic plant modulates bile flow, increasing or reducing it as needed.
Cholagogue, choleretic and ampholeretic plants stimulate and regulate bile flow.
Amphoteric
It’s an adjective attributed to plants that have the ability to express one property as well as the opposite property.
Annual perennial or non-hardy perennial
is a perennial plant which, in your hardiness zone, will not survive the winter. These plants can often be protected by insulation, or brought indoors to prevent them from dying.
Anticonvulsant
The anticonvulsant plant combats spasms and convulsions.
Antihypertensive, hypotensive and hypertensive
Hypotensive or antihypertensive: reduces arterial pressure (or tension)
Hypertensive: increases blood pressure
Antipruritic: Anti-scratching, anti-itching
The antipruritic plant prevents and combats itching.
Antispasmodic, spasmolytic, anticonvulsant
The antispasmodic plant combats spasms and convulsions.
Astringent
This astringent plant contracts and tightens mucous tissues. It firms inflamed mucous membranes, making them less permeable and reducing fluid loss (blood, diarrhea, lymph, etc.). In excess, astringency can cause constipation, irritation and impede nutrient absorption.
Bitter or bitter tonic
A bitter-tasting plant with a tonic effect on the entire digestive system. A bitter plant is always aperitive, cholagogue, digestive, hepatic, cholesterol-lowering, laxative and sialagogue.
Carminative
Carminative plant helps expel intestinal gas. It is useful against abdominal tension and flatulence.
Cholagogue, choleretic and amphocholeretic
Cholagogue, choleretic and amphocholeretic: properties that stimulate and regulate bile flow.
The cholagogue plant stimulates the evacuation of bile by contracting the gallbladder.
Choleretic
The choleretic plant stimulates bile production by the liver.
Cholagogue, choleretic and ampholytic plants stimulate and regulate bile flow.
Direct seeding
A cultivation operation in which seeds are sown directly into the soil in which they will be grown.
Emollient, softening
This emollient plant soothes, relaxes and combats stiffness. It is useful for irritated or inflamed mucous membranes (tissues).
It is also added to preparations containing irritant plants to protect mucous membranes. The emollient plant should be avoided in cases of excess mucus.

Essential Guide to Seed Scarification Techniques
Scarification is a treatment designed to damage the seed’s tegument (outer envelope) to allow the water needed for germination to seep through.
Fertilization
A cultivation operation that enriches the soil to make it more fertile and improve yields.
Green fertilizer
Green manures are crops intended to be ploughed into the soil to increase fertility.
Hepatic, hepatoprotective
The hepatic plant acts on the liver. They can be hepatoprotective, regenerative, tonic or detoxifying. Our modern diet, pollutants and overindulgence in food and alcohol have increased our need for liver-healing plants.

Hypertensive
Hypertensive: increases blood pressure
Hypotensive
Hypotensive or antihypertensive: reduces arterial pressure (or tension)
Indoor sowing
A cultivation operation that consists in sowing seeds in a place where climatic conditions such as temperature, humidity and light are controlled.
Soil aeration
A cultivation operation that consists in oxygenating and decompacting the soil by working it as little as possible.
Sowing in bunches
small hole into which several seeds are sown.
Spasmolytic
The spasmolytic plant combats spasms and convulsions.
Stale seedbed preparation
A cultivation operation that consists in preparing the soil as if for direct seeding or transplanting, but without actually doing so, in order to create the right conditions for weeds to grow and then kill them.
Stimulating expectorant, relaxing expectorant, amphoteric and mucolytic.
Stimulating expectorant: Plant that stimulates us to expel mucus.
Relaxing expectorant: Releases mucus secretions while soothing bronchial spasms.
Mucolytic: “bronchial fluidifier, expectorant, mucus thinner” #ref:20#.
Stratification
Treatment used with certain seeds by exposing them to a period of cold in order to lift their dormancy.
Transplanting
A cultivation operation that involves transplanting seedlings into a larger container to give them sufficient space to grow.
